An overview of the key components that shape the fellowship experience and support our fellows’ growth.
Each year, five journalists are selected through a competitive process managed by a panel of expert Afghan journalists. The selection process ensures that the chosen candidates reflect the spirit of Samim and Ramiz.
Fellows are assigned to five local media outlets in different provinces, including Mazar-e-Sharif, Bamyan, Kabul, Herat, Jalalabad, and Helmand. This allows them to gain diverse experience in various regional contexts.
Each fellow receives personalized guidance from a senior journalist, helping them navigate their professional development and enhance their reporting skills.
Fellows receive a monthly stipend funded by contributions from the Afghan journalism community. This support allows them to focus fully on their work and development.
A structured pathway for aspiring journalists to join the fellowship, gain experience, and contribute to local media outlets.
If you are a journalist aged 25 or younger, based in or willing to work in one of the provinces with partner media outlets, we encourage you to apply.
