Class 2025 Fellows

Below are the fellows of Class 2025 of the Samim & Ramiz Journalism Fellowship. Each fellow will benefit from personalized mentorship throughout the fellowship and will collaborate with a local media outlet, gaining hands-on experience and enhancing their journalistic skills.


Ms. Maryam Mohammadi

Ms. Maryam Mohammadi

Balkh, Afghanistan

Ms. Maryam Mohammadi, a journalist from Balkh province, is the recipient of the 2025 Samim & Ramiz Journalism Fellowship Award. A Journalism graduate from Jawzjan University, she began her career at Radio Nohad and became a radio host in January 2023, excelling in both live and pre-recorded shows. The six-month Samim & Ramiz Journalism Fellowship will provide Ms. Mohammadi with a unique platform to further refine her journalistic expertise, contribute impactful stories, and serve as an inspiration for aspiring journalists across Afghanistan. She will be working with Radio Rabia Balkhi in Balkh during the fellowship.

Mr. Hasib Hasas

Mr. Hasib Hasas

Kandahar, Afghanistan

Mr. Hasib Hasas, from Kunduz province, Afghanistan, is a journalist with six years of experience. He has collaborated with local media and national institutions, contributing to educational programs and impactful reporting. Known for his effective initiatives and commitment to journalism, Hasib continues to work passionately in media, even after the political changes in Afghanistan, demonstrating resilience and dedication to his profession. He will be working with Radio Kunduz in Kunduz during the fellowship.

Ms. Tabassum Naseri

Ms. Tabassum Naseri

Kabul, Afghanistan

Tabassum Naseri is a graduate of the Communication and Journalism faculty at Kabul University. She has three years of professional experience as a journalist and reporter focused on various areas, including women's issues and analytical reporting. In addition to her journalistic work, Tabassum has participated in several journalistic programs including initiatives organized by the Committee to Protect Journalists and the National Union of Journalists. Her dedication to journalism and active participation in professional development programs highlight her commitment to advancing the field. She will be working with Khaam Press in Kabul during the fellowship.

Mr. Hidayatullah Muhtamim Salih

Mr. Hidayatullah Muhtamim Salih

Kandahar, Afghanistan

Mr. Hidayatullah Muhtamim Salih, from Kandahar province, is a skilled journalist with nearly a decade of experience. After completing his education and short-term journalism courses in Kandahar, he began his career in 2015. In 2021, Hidayatullah worked with the Rumi Office and News agencies, excelling in investigative journalism and earning certificates of excellence for his impactful reports. He has also been recognized by various organizations in Kandahar for his adherence to journalistic ethics and dedication to serving the public through accurate reporting. He will be working with Radio Tabasum in Kandahar during the fellowship.

Ms. Manizha Ahmadi

Ms. Manizha Ahmadi

Bamyan, Afghanistan

Ms. Manizha Ahmadi is a journalist from Bamyan province, Afghanistan. Her career includes working with local Bamyan radios since 2021, producing radio programs. Manizha’s work reflects her dedication to improving awareness in her community. She will be working with Radio Nassim in Bamyan during the fellowship.
